2021 Race
Jun 13, 2021
Okay, folks, let me paint you a picture: It's June 2021, the sun's shining, and the streets of Medfield are buzzing with an energy we haven't felt in ages. Why? Because the Soles of Medfield 10K is back, baby – and this time, we're doing it in person!
After a year of virtual high-fives and solo runs, can you imagine how good it felt to see real, live faces at the starting line? We had over 80 runners show up, all grinning from ear to ear (well, under their masks, but you could totally tell).
Now, let's talk about this course. Whoever designed it must've thought, "How can we show off every nook and cranny of our town?" Because let me tell you, we saw it all. Uphill battles that had us questioning our life choices, stunning views that made us forget we were even running, and neighborhoods where the cheering was so loud you'd think we were rock stars.
But here's the kicker – all our huffing and puffing was for a great cause. Every penny raised went to the Medfield Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund. So while we were out there living our best runner lives, we were also making sure local kids get to have an awesome summer. Talk about a win-win!
And can we give it up for our volunteers? These folks were out there crack of dawn, setting up water stations, cheering like their lives depended on it, and making sure nobody took a wrong turn and ended up in the next town over. You guys are the real MVPs!
Oh, and let's not forget the banana. Yes, you heard me right. We had someone in a banana costume running the whole 10K. If that doesn't sum up the spirit of this event, I don't know what does.
So, what's the takeaway from all this? Sure, we ran 10K. But more importantly, we came together again. We proved that our community spirit is stronger than ever. And we did it all while rocking some pretty sweet race t-shirts.
To everyone who ran, cheered, volunteered, or just stood by wondering what all the fuss was about – thank you. You made this comeback one for the books.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to start training for next year. I heard a rumor that the banana might have some fruity friends joining the race, and I am not about to be outrun by a pineapple.
Keep those laces tight, Medfield. See you at the next starting line!
